AbortionFinder for US clinics
AbortionFinder, run by Power to Decide, is one of the most used patient tools in the United States. Its directory covers clinics affiliated with the organization, Abortion Care Network members and some unaffiliated independent clinics. If your clinic is already listed, the most valuable thing you can do is keep it current. AbortionFinder asks providers to report changes to services, gestational limits and next available appointment dates through its contact page.
The tradeoff is control. You do not write your own profile and you cannot add photos, languages spoken or a long description. That is the right design for a neutral patient tool, and it is why clinics pair it with a profile they manage themselves.
INeedAnA and why accuracy matters there
INeedAnA describes itself as a site that helps people find abortion providers, telehealth services, financial support and travel information in the United States. The Abortion Care Network points patients to it for the most current list of clinics, funds and state law information, and the network has used its data in its own research.
For a clinic, the job is the same as with AbortionFinder: check your listing every time your hours, methods or week limits change. Each clinic page has a "let us know" button for outdated details, and funds use the site when they refer patients, so a wrong week limit can cost you referrals.
Abortion Care Network and NAF membership
These two are memberships, not directories in the usual sense, but both lists send patients and referrals to members.
Abortion Care Network
The Abortion Care Network represents independent clinics, from nonprofit and feminist health centers to small business owners. A clinic becomes a member after it completes the application, signs the membership agreement and is approved by the membership committee or board. A 2023 grant description put the network at 110 independent clinics in 44 states.
National Abortion Federation
NAF membership is built around clinical quality. A facility applies, provides references and passes an onsite evaluation by NAF clinical staff against the NAF Clinical Policy Guidelines, which are revised every year. Members then receive regular quality assurance visits. In Utah, licensing rules require abortion clinics to document membership in good standing with NAF or the Abortion Care Network, so for some clinics membership is not optional.
Google Business Profile is the baseline
A complete Google Business Profile is free and shows your clinic in map results for people searching near you. Add your services in plain words, your hours and your appointment link, and answer the questions people post. Paid search is a separate step: Google requires abortion certification before your ads can show on abortion searches in the United States, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Our page on abortion clinic marketing and advertising covers those rules and how they shape a clinic's budget. How these listings feed your own rankings in Google Maps is covered on our page about abortion clinic SEO.
Where Abortion.io fits
The free directories above are built for patients who already know they are searching for a clinic in the United States, in English. Many of the patients who travel start one step earlier. They want to know what is legal at their stage where they live, then which places nearby will treat them. Abortion.io answers both on the same page. Every state and country card shows the law with its source, and the verified clinics a person can legally reach appear next to it, in their own language.
- Your profile shows methods, week limits, price range, languages spoken, hours and your appointment link.
- Field labels appear in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Polish and Dutch.
- We verify your license or registration with the official registry and show the source and date.
- Inquiries go to the team members you choose, and your monthly report shows views, clicks and inquiries.
Plans start at $24 a month billed yearly. The pricing for clinics page lists every plan, and list your abortion clinic shows how verification works.
How to choose which directories to list your clinic on
Start with everything that is free and that patients and funds already trust: Google Business Profile, AbortionFinder and INeedAnA. Apply for Abortion Care Network or NAF membership if you are an independent clinic or you need it for licensing. Then add a paid profile where your growth actually comes from.
- If most of your patients live within an hour of you, a strong Google profile and accurate free listings may be enough.
- If a large share of your patients drive in from a state with a ban, you need to be visible on the pages they read while they check the law. That is the Featured plan on Abortion.io, which adds the next available appointment and travel information.
- If you treat international patients, for example in the Netherlands or Spain, languages matter more than anything else, because patients read your week limits and prices before they call.
- If you run several locations, the Network plan keeps profiles consistent with one account and exports inquiries as CSV.
One last practical point. Every directory sends patients to your website or booking page, and a page that is down on a busy morning loses them all. Clinics with an online booking flow often set up uptime monitoring for the booking site so the front desk hears about an outage before patients do. If you also run an online service, the best telehealth abortion directories work differently, because Google Business Profile does not accept online-only providers.
